Our mission
At Piedmont Canine Training, our mission is to help families in Winston-Salem and the surrounding communities raise well-mannered, confident dogs that fit naturally into everyday life.
Our training focuses on clear communication, structure, and hands-on practice in real-world situations. Each program is customized to the dog and family, emphasizing practical skills like leash walking, calm behavior at home and in public, reliable recall, and strong household manners.
We also work through common behavior challenges including jumping, pulling, barking, reactivity, and impulse control, while teaching owners how to maintain progress long after training ends.
As a family-owned business, we design training to work within real routines, so results are consistent, realistic, and lasting.
Meet your trainer
Piedmont Canine Training is led by Abigail Stephens, a professional dog trainer who believes effective training is built on clear communication and strong relationships between dogs and their families.
Abigail is a graduate of The School for Dog Trainers, where she earned honors and completed extensive hands-on training with pet dogs, service dogs, police K9s, and search and rescue dogs. She has worked with hundreds of dogs across a wide range of behavioral needs and has trained and placed service dogs with families nationwide.
Outside of training, Abigail is a mother of two young daughters and the owner of two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. This firsthand experience shapes her approach, focusing on skills that work in real homes, real routines, and everyday life.
Her training style is practical and adaptable, meeting each dog where they are while helping families build confidence, consistency, and long-term results.
